  • Can I fit a chainguide on this bike?

    Yes, it has ISCG-05 tabs for easy chainguide mounting. Most chainguides that are made for this standard should work.

  • Can I install a Chris King bottom bracket on this bike?

    No, the bottom bracket could make contact with and damage the rear triangle.

  • All 5010 and Furtad sizes have different chainstay lengths. Can I buy a different swingarm so I can have a longer, shorter or radder length than what my bike comes with?

    No, there's only one swingarm for all sizes. The chainstay length changes by moving the pivots and shock mount in the front triangle to shorten the rear center on different sizes.

  • Can I put a shock from my old bike on this one?

    Santa Cruz recommends the stock shock because it's tuned for each particular frame. If you want to change it, know these specifics: 210x50 metric shock, 30x8mm rear hardware (bearing compatible), and 25x8 front hardware.

  • Is this bike compatible with a coil shock?

    Yes it is. With a shorter-travel platform, you'll need a pretty firm spring to keep from bottoming out too much with a coil. That's because you don't have the same ramp-up as an air spring. But the 5010 has a rising rate linkage and will work better with a coil than most bikes in this travel range.

  • I want to replace the rear wheel axle. What size is required?

    5010 and Furtado use a 173.7x12 axle with a 1.0mm thread pitch. It's a new size for Santa Cruz, longer than the axles used on past trail bikes.

  • The geometry chart shows two settings. How do I adjust that?

    There's a flip chip on the link where the shock mounts. Remove the lower shock bolt and flip the chip to the setting you want.

  • What's the SRAM UDH (universal derailleur hanger)?

    5010 and Furtado are the first Santa Cruz bikes with this new hanger. It's very similar to the brand's other hangers, but it's not cross-compatible. The whole bike industry will probably adopt this hanger. Then you can get a replacement at any bike shop. You can also order one on the Santa Cruz webstore at that time.
