2023 Santa Cruz Stigmata 4
A gravel/mountain combo bike.
You know the Santa Cruz Stigmata is a gravel bike. But the 4th generation has new MTB-focused geometry. That means it works for all gravel and mountain adventures! It's your go-to travel companion to be fast and loose on the road less traveled. Helping you rise to the occasion day after day.
The heart of the Stigmata is the carbon CC frame. Strong and stiff for ultimate versatility. Also incredibly light, so you can whip it around as hard and as much as you want. Of course, it's available in multitude of sizes. S-XXL for anyone 5'3" to 6'6". The reach is 30mm over the last model and head tube is slackened to 69.5°. A set of 700c wheels can roll fast and fly over obstacles like they're not even there.
But wait, it gets better. Santa Cruz has added its famous glovebox to this bike. A tool wallet and tube purse are kept right in the downtube. Keeping your tools on-hand whenever you need them! Get ready for wide open mountain ranges, well-maintained gravel roads, singletracks, and beyond. For fun or competition. Anything is possible when you're strapped in with the Stigmata!

Frequently Asked Questions
2023 Santa Cruz Stigmata 4
-
Can I run a dropper post on this bike?
Yes, it has options for internally-routed dropper posts. Just order a 27.2mm post.
-
Does this bike work with fenders?
Yes, it works with up to 700x35 or 27.5x2.0 tires with fenders. These parts vary greatly, so use these numbers as guidelines.
-
What do I need to mount fenders?
Santa Cruz bikes and frames have a custom seat stay mount, as there's no seat stay bridge on this model. Besides that, you should only need the hardware that comes with the fenders.
-
What's the maximum tire size?
Up to 700x50mm. Bikes with front derailleur with a max 45mm tire because of the tire-FD clearance.
-
Can I use "Road+" tires on this bike?
The bike is only made for 700c wheels and tires.
-
I want a different fork. What are the important specs?
It's a 430mm axle-crown fork with a 45mm offset, so you want to get close to that. Santa Cruz recommended the Fox 32TC or Rockshox Rude with 40mm travel.
-
What kind of headset does this bike use?
41mm upper and 52mm lower integrated headset cups. The SHIS name is IS 41/28.6 IS 52/40. The fork uses an integrated 1.5" crown race with a 36° taper angle. Every Stigmata comes with a compatible headset, whether you're buying a frameset or a complete bike.
-
What front derailleurs are compatible?
The bike accepts electronic FDs, or modern cable-actuated FDs from Shimano (7000/8000/9000 series). Mechanic FDs from SRAM won't work. They don't have an integrated housing stop needed for the cable routing.
-
What brake rotor size is compatible?
The bikes uses 160mm "flat-mount" brake mounts. They're compatible with 160mm or 180mm rotors.
-
What cranks are compatible?
The bike uses a 68mm threaded BB. It's made to accommodate SRAM Wide cranksets or Shimano GRX. These cranks have more chainring-frame clearance than older cranks. They'll provide the most room for the chainrings you want to use.
-
What size chainrings fit?
Up to 42t for 1x. Up to a 36t small ring and a 50t big ring for 2x.
-
How many water bottles cages can I use?
There are mounts for three bottles. One under the downtube and two in the front triangle.
