Rider descending a steep red rock slope on a 2027 Santa Cruz Nomad in Arizona

The 2027 Santa Cruz Nomad: Full Details & Specs

The go-anywhere enduro bike.

The Nomad is Santa Cruz's go-anywhere enduro bike. 170mm of VPP travel front and rear, MX wheels, and a frame built to be packed in a bike bag, thrown in a van or tossed over a tailgate. Wherever the trail starts, the Nomad is ready.

The 2027 is the Gen 7 of this bike. A slimmer downtube and a reworked carbon layup make it ever so slightly lighter, and the thinner downtube adds compliance so you can finish long descents ready for the next round.

Santa Cruz retuned the VPP kinematics after more than 80 hours of on-trail testing. Less anti-rise for less brake dive. Less anti-squat for more traction, efficient pedaling and a smoother ride over square-on hits. The head angle sits at 63.6° in Hi and 63.3° in Lo, and a flip chip lets you pick between the two.

There's a quieter, tougher Glovebox V2 in the downtube, a top tube mount for a tube or tool, and a simple two-bolt ISCG mount paired with an integrated upper chainguide.

Five complete builds run from Shimano Deore to SRAM X0 AXS with Reserve carbon wheels, plus a frame-only option. If you want a bike to go anywhere and explore the wilder side of the mountains, the Nomad is ready to travel.

We did a first ride video at the Phoenix Mountains Preserve. Airpark team rider Amias shows the Nomad's capability to its fullest in our video. Steep and deep, chunky or just tough are your style, this bike lived up to is marketing. Take a look at the video and some photos from the ride shoot below.

Frequently Asked Questions

2027 Santa Cruz Nomad

The frame is 86 grams lighter than before. Most of the savings come from a slimmer downtube and a redesigned carbon layup, and the thinner downtube adds compliance to reduce fatigue on long descents.

The head angle is a hair slacker at 63.6° in Hi and 63.3° in Lo, matching the Bullit. Santa Cruz reduced anti-rise to cut brake dive and reduced anti-squat for more traction, better pedaling efficiency and better performance over square-edge hits. Every build now uses a CC carbon frame, and there's a Glovebox V2, a top tube accessory mount and a two-bolt ISCG bash mount.

No. The Nomad is built exclusively for MX wheels, with a 29" front and a 27.5" rear. Converting to other wheel sizes will negatively affect geometry, handling and performance.

The geometry is designed around a 170mm fork with a 44mm offset. Going shorter isn't recommended because the BB gets a bit low. You can run up to 180mm if you prefer.

The Nomad works with all modern drivetrains, cabled or wireless. It's designed for 55mm chainline cranks and uses a 73mm threaded bottom bracket. The max chainring size is 36t.

Yes. The frame has an integrated upper chainguide and a two-bolt ISCG 05 mount for a bash guard. It replaces the three-bolt ISCG05 mount, so installing and replacing a bash guard is easier. Complete builds come with a OneUp chainguide.

The Nomad comes with a 200mm rear post mount. With an adapter, it accepts rotors up to 223mm.

Santa Cruz's CC frames use the best materials and production processes available. The Nomad 7 project aimed to cut weight and hit very specific stiffness targets, and Santa Cruz wanted those benefits at every price point. So every build uses the same CC frame.

It's an accessory mount for a tube or tool. Santa Cruz first used it on its ebikes. Carrying a tube or tool there leaves more room in the Glovebox.

It comes with Santa Cruz's lifetime warranty. Santa Cruz also offers free replacement pivot bearings to the original owner for as long as they own the bike.
