Learn More About the 2022 Diamondback Release 2
The 2022 Diamondback Release 2 is built for riders who want a mountain bike that handles a wide variety of trails with ease. It doesn't shy away from rough, technical terrain or long days on the trail. Instead, it's ready to roll with confidence and smooth control, thanks to some thoughtful design and solid components.
At its heart lies a frame made from Diamondback's 6061 T-6 aluminum. This material keeps things light, but tough enough to take the hits a trail bike faces daily. The geometry leans into trail riding, blending nimbleness with enough stability to keep you confident when things get steep or rocky. You get a frame that feels fast and efficient, delivering power where you put it, and precise handling.
The bike is equipped with a Shimano SLX drivetrain. This groupset is dependable and smooth, making quick gear changes feel effortless, even when the trail demands it. With plenty of gear options, climbs feel manageable, and you can carry speed on the downhills without a second thought.
The suspension setup includes a Fox Rhythm 34 fork upfront with 140mm of travel. It soaks up bumps and rough patches, giving the front end a plush, controlled feel. The fork isn't just about comfort. It's adjustable to match how you like to ride, making it easier to dial the ride exactly how you want.
Out back, a Fox Float DPS Evol shock with 130mm of travel keeps the rear end active. It responds well to terrain changes and helps the bike maintain grip and flow over uneven ground. There's a handy 3-position compression setting on the shock. You can flip through the modes to switch from efficient pedaling on the climbs to full suspension support on descents, without stopping.
The wheels are Diamondback Blanchard 28R's, tubeless ready for lower tire pressures that improve traction and cut down on pinch flats. These rims are wide enough to fit chunky tires, giving you better grip and stability when the trail gets tricky.
You'll also find a set of Shimano SLX hydraulic disc brakes. They're strong and consistent, letting you feather the brakes smoothly or grab hard without fear. The control they offer is reassuring on steep or technical sections, where precise braking often makes the difference.
Rounding out the setup are Maxxis Minion DHF and DHR II tires, both 29x2.3" with EXO sidewalls. Their aggressive tread is designed to bite into loose, rocky, or muddy surfaces. The tough sidewalls protect against punctures, so you can push your limits without worrying about flats.
Comfort doesn't take a backseat either. The WTB Koda Comp saddle strikes a nice balance between support and cushioning. Its shape works with lots of riding positions and body types, making it easier to ride longer without that nagging saddle discomfort.
If you want a trail-ready bike that stays durable but doesn't feel heavy or sluggish, the 2022 Diamondback Release 2 deserves a close look. It can handle tough terrain while giving you control and confidence on every mile.
