The 2027 Santa Cruz Blur 5: Full Details & Specs

Race Days and Weekdays

The new Blur is made for trails, whether you're racing for podiums or hammering into the sunrise. Santa Cruz bumped up the travel, updated the geometry, and spent a lot of time tweaking the suspension kinematics to encourage you to obliterate the boundaries of a traditional "XC bike." The Blur is right at home sprinting for the finish line, but it's also a lightweight and immensely capable short-travel trail bike for the weekdays.

The Blur has 120mm of travel front and rear, up from 110mm on the previous model Blur, with a more progressive leverage curve and added mid-stroke support.

Geometry gets a serious update to match: a slacker 66-degree head angle, a steeper 75-degree seat angle, and a significantly longer reach put you "in" the bike rather than "on" it.

Standard kits pair a 20mm-rise bar and 50mm stem with Fox suspension and Maxxis Aspen AT tires for everyday trail riding. Race kits swap in a flat bar, 60mm stem, RockShox suspension with lockouts, and pinner Maxxis Rekon Race tires for a start-line-ready setup.

Every Blur 5 uses the same CC carbon frame, Santa Cruz's lightest and most advanced layup. The frame has a glovebox storage compartment, two full-size bottle mounts in the front triangle to keep hydrated, top tube accessory mounts, an integrated chain guide and downtube protector, and full-length cable chunnels for easy service. All of it is backed by Santa Cruz's lifetime warranty on the frame, pivot bearings, and Reserve carbon rims.

Highlighted Features of the 2027 Santa Cruz Blur 5

Modern Geo

Modern geometry that blurs the line between fast and capable.

120mm Travel

The rocker link is skeletonized to shave grams while the leverage curve gets more progressive, adding mid-stroke support for better pedaling and a ramp at bottom-out so you can use every millimeter of the added travel without harshness.

Glovebox V2

The in-frame storage compartment carries a spare tube, tools, and a snack. Easy to access, seals tight against the frame, and latches securely.

Two Full-Size Bottle Mounts

The front triangle fits two full-size water bottles, even on builds running the larger Flight Attendant shock, so you can skip the pack on long days.

Toptube accessory mount points
Top Tube Accessory Mounts

Accessory mounts on the top tube let you keep necessities like a CO2 canister, tire plugs, or a multi-tool secure and easy to access.

Integrated Chain Guide and Downtube Protector

An ISCG05-mount chain guide keeps the chain in check over rough terrain, and a lightweight stick-on downtube protector shields the frame from rock strikes and chain slap.

Full-Length Cable Chunnels

Tube-in-tube housing and hose routing runs the full length of the frame, keeping the cockpit quiet and making housing swaps and full builds far easier to service.

CC Carbon Frame

CC carbon is Santa Cruz's lightest and most advanced layup.

Race and Standard Build Kits

Race kits pair a flat bar and 60mm stem with RockShox suspension, lockout remotes, and Maxxis Rekon Race tires for the start line. Standard kits get a 20mm-rise bar, 50mm stem, Fox suspension, and burlier Maxxis Aspen AT tires for everyday trail riding.

Revised Leverage Curve

The new leverage curve is more progressive than the outgoing Blur's through the first half of travel, adding pedaling support and small-bump compliance while keeping the same shock dimensions and weight as before.

Frequently Asked Questions

2027 Santa Cruz Blur 5

41mm upper and 52mm lower integrated headset cups.

Yes, an integrated 2-bolt ISCG '05 mount. It works best with low-profile modern guides. Some older models with larger upper guides might not fit. You should always do a fit-check with a specific chainguide to see what works.

Yes, it has routing options for stealth only.

CC frames are made with the best carbon materials available. C frames have the same features, but more weight for less money. They're both just as strong as stiff as one another, and they both come with a lifetime warranty.

180mm rotor with a brake adaptor, 160mm rotor without.

The Blur 5 fits up to a 29x2.4" tire. It ships spec'd with Maxxis Aspen AT or Rekon Race tires in that width, and the 148mm Boost rear spacing keeps clearance consistent across the size range.

36t. The frame is built around the ISCG05 chain guide mount, so a 36t ring paired with the guide keeps the chain in place even on the roughest race courses.

A 73mm threaded bottom bracket shell. It's compatible with standard threaded cranksets and is easy to service or replace at any shop.

Yes. Every Blur 5 frame, regardless of build kit, accommodates mechanical derailleur routing alongside the wireless AXS and Di2 options spec'd on higher-end builds.

Aim for 28-30% sag, or roughly 12.5-13.5mm of shock travel, on the 190x45 rear shock. Exact air pressure and rebound settings vary by rider weight and build kit, so check the Blur 5 suspension setup guide for the full chart.

The Blur 5's frame, pivot bearings, and Reserve carbon rims (on Reserve-equipped builds) are covered by Santa Cruz's lifetime warranty, backed by the Santa Cruz Rider Support team.

Race kits (GX AXS Race RSV and XX AXS FA Race RSV) get a flat bar, 60mm stem, RockShox suspension with lockout remotes, and Maxxis Rekon Race tires for a start-line-ready setup.

Standard kits (Deore, 90, GX AXS, X0 AXS RSV, XTR Di2 RSV) get a 20mm-rise bar, 50mm stem, Fox suspension, and burlier Maxxis Aspen AT tires better suited to everyday trail riding.
