2023 Rocky Mountain Instinct X0 Transmission Custom

The 2023 Rocky Mountain Instinct X0 Transmission is built for technical trails, long rides, and changing terrain. Its Smoothwall carbon frame with a carbon rear triangle keeps weight low without sacrificing strength, while 140mm of rear travel and a RIDE-9™ adjustable geometry system let you fine-tune the ride feel. Smoothwall carbon frames are 3D designed with carefully optimized frame thickness at every point, and they also use different types of carbon in specific frame areas to maximize stiffness and impact resistance. A 2-position axle adds even more flexibility, so you can match your setup to the trail ahead. The frame also includes fully sealed cartridge bearings, internal cable routing, press-fit bottom bracket, and 2-bolt ISCG05 tabs for easy chain guide installation.

Up front, the RockShox Lyrik Ultimate fork delivers precise handling and consistent damping, while a Fox Float X Factory rear shock keeps the rear wheel tracking smoothly through rough sections. Both components are tuned for control, especially when you’re charging technical lines or landing hard out of corners.

You get a full SRAM X0 T-Type drivetrain, including the Pod Controller shifter, derailleur, crankset, cassette, chain, and bottom bracket. Shifting is fast and fully wireless, and the 10-52T cassette gives you the range to clean climbs without spinning out on descents. The 170mm crank arms pair with a 32T chainring for a well-balanced pedaling feel, and SRAM’s DUB bottom bracket keeps things stiff and creak-free.

Stopping power comes from Hayes Dominion A4 4-piston brakes paired with SRAM HS2 rotors. This combo delivers serious braking force and great modulation, so you can stay in control when the trail gets steep or unpredictable.

The Instinct rolls on Reynolds Blacklabel carbon wheels laced to Industry Nine hubs. These wheels are stiff, responsive, and built to take hits. Vittoria Mazza 2.4" tires up front and Martello 2.4" tires in the rear offer excellent grip and predictable cornering on loose, rocky, or mixed terrain.

Up in the cockpit, you’ll find a Deity Skywire carbon handlebar with a 15mm rise, paired with a Burgtec 50mm stem and a Cane Creek 40 headset. This setup gives you smooth, responsive handling and a stable front end. The OneUp V2 dropper post gives you 210mm of travel and quick on-the-fly saddle height changes. A WTB Volt saddle rounds things out with a shape that balances support and maneuverability for aggressive riding or long days out.
